Aagadu - All Reviews

There's fun to be had off course, but perhaps the end product is more slapstick than funny
Karthik Pasupulate, The Times of India
rinu Vytla came with his typical entertaining story. Film has shades of his earlier entertainers and striking resemblance to Dookudu is not missed. Film is extremely predictable and lacks thrills to keep viewers interested. Sonu Sood's characterization is too feeble and his villain-ism is not at all elevated. Those who watched Srinu Vytla's earlier films will not find the film attractive at all. He should look for new ways to entertain viewers. Climax sketched by Srinu Vytla looked pretty ordinary.
Director Srinu Vaitla has successfully taken the movie forward but he could not continue the same tempo in the second half however he was able to manage the movie. Mahesh Babu action is no doubt he has done justice to the movie and he is the highlight of the movie. Though Bramanandham was played major role but his comedy is limited however over all the movie is fine it can be watchable.
I Luv Cinema
If Srinu Vaitla could have made few more changes in the story to go completely out of “Dookudu” shades, this flick could have been much better. Shruthi Hassan’s song is a treat to the youngsters and the comedy is attractive to the family audience. Punch dialogues are especially sharpened for the mass audience and on an average, this flick has all the ingredients for all groups of spectators.
'Aagadu' is a simple, oft-repeated cop vs. don story
Aagadu is One Time Watch Entertainer As a Normal Audien I like First Half And Disappointed with Second Half overall an Average film
In all, Aagadu is a half hearted project made only to earn some quick profits. The story is predictable which is fine, but it’s gravely written. There’s not enough drama, action, build up of story and failed to carry emotions. Looking at the track record of Mahesh Babu, Srinu Vaitla and 14 Reels, a very polished, well worked upon and entertaining movie was being expected from the trio. But sadly, we have to admit here, that Aagadu falls way short of what was being projected by the makers.
I Luv Cinema
The film comes from the house of Sreenu Vaitla who is known for his rip roaring comedy entertainers with action. The first half was very good and breezes smoothly with elements of comedy, action and romance. The interval bang was promising. The second half was more focused on the action and revenge element. In Vaitla's movies humor builds up as the film ends but that didnt happen in this one. Overall, this is a film more for mass audience and Mahesh fans. If you come with high expectations it will not reach the mark. At the box office, profits look likely.
It's a film where Mahesh and Vaitla repeat themselves apparently because they are still enamoured of their previous outing.  An average fare.

Encounter Shankar’s name sends shock waves down the spine of criminals. Shankar goes as CI to Bukkapatnam to control the crime and unlawful activities being carried out quite brazenly by a well known criminal Damodar and his gang. He would take on Damodar and his gang one by one and ultimately bring down all their unlawful activities. As a result, the rivalry between Damodar and Shankar gets widened.
Mahesh Babu™s charisma and witty dialogues save the film!

Right from the word go, it is Mahesh, Mahesh and only Mahesh throughout the film

Given the weak script, Vaitla tries to win over the mass audience by using Brahmanandam as Delhi Suri. But instead of making you laugh, the entire thread leaves you yawning. And one is left wondering as to why Mahesh gave in to the idea of narrating the storylines of his popular films before bashing up the villains. Though it works the first time around as you try to figure out the film, by second half, it gets repetitive and bores you to the core. The only saving grace for the film is Mahesh and a few punch dialogues sprinkled randomly which has now become the trademark of Srinu Vaitla.
Aagadu is an out and out Mahesh Babu commercial film. Die hard fans, go watch it and audience give a try.
A one time watch for general audience. A two time watch for families who love healthy comedy. And a minimum three time watch for fans. And the sole reason for every sector of the audience to watch “Aagadu” is Mahesh….Mahesh…..Mahesh….and Mahesh.
Mahesh gets into the skin of his character and does his job phenomenally. He doesn't go over the board in expressing his character's attitude. He strikes an instant rapport with almost everyone. His pairing with Tamannah was awaited with expectations but one feels Tamannah was not properly portrayed. She has got not many dialogues and everywhere, she is seen jiving with Mahesh
Punch dialogues are especially sharpened for the mass audience and on an average, this flick has all the ingredients for all groups of spectators
'Aagadu' isn't the kind of film one expects from Mahesh-Vytla combo
Nani, AP Today
Mahesh Babu, Tamannaah starrer Aagadu is one of the most eagerly awaited films of the year
Venkat, Great Andhra
The only plus point of the movie is Mahesh Babu but it is needless to say that the movie is not up to the standards of Srinu Vytla’s comedy action movies.
Only if you need to hold the record that you’ve seen all of Mahesh Babu’s films, go and watch the movie. But do follow Mahesh’s advice in the movie and stick a pair of plugs into your ears before you enter the theater.
A script that insults its talent

Coming to the story, Shankar (Mahesh Babu) is an orphan brought up by Raja Rao (Rajendra Prasad). But Raja Rao mistakes Shankar on one occasion and drives him out of the house. Later, Shankar becomes an Encounter Specialist and gets posted in Bukkapatnam, where the atrocities of Damodar (Sonu Sood) is skyrocketing.
First half of the movie reminds us the movie Gabbar Singh.2nd half looks like Dookudu
Business Of Tollywood
As a cop, Mahesh Babu has done a fantastic job and he is the showman in Aagadu. He is a treat to watch in action and dance sequences and he will rock you with his amazing dialogue diction. Tamanna has also done well and she impresses you with her glamour. Her chemistry with Prince is good to watch on screen.
First half of the film is engaging with Mahesh Babu entertainment. Second half should have been better. Plus points of the film are Mahesh Babu and entertainment. On the flip side, it’s verbose and screenplay should have been better. Telugu film industry is slowly getting into Bollywood blockbuster mode where a successful hero - director combination ensures great openings and revenue. The combination of Mahesh Babu and Sreenu Vaitla is enough to guarantee great collections.
Fun in parts but fails to create impact
Telugu Cinema
This film is very inferior to it and only works because of Mahesh, he should solely carry this film at the box office too
The story is not fresh but not complicated either
Suresh Kavirayani, Deccan Chronicle
Aagadu is a Average commercial mass entertainer that has all the elements required to entertain you to the core. Its Mahesh Babu one man show all the way! Its a disappointing attempt though! Don’t miss for Mahesh fans.
Even though the story is routine, Vaitla did amazing job for the first half by adding all the entertaining and mass elements in large proportions. But, he lost the touch in second half with predictable screenplay. He incorporated ‘Dookudu’ formula here for safe path, but it is failed. His films generally have hillariously entertaining second half. Be it Ready, Dookudu or Baadshah, second half played major role in their success. But ‘Aagadu’ is an expectation; post-interval the film looses the grip and partially entertainers here and there. 2nd half is the biggest setback.
Climax is draining.. The whole movie wa was so good .. It deserves better pre climax and climax Actually overall Second Half..Aagadu is a commercial mass entertainer that has all the elements required to entertain you to the core. Its Mahesh Babu one man show all the way! Don’t miss for Mahesh fans.
Succesfull Gabbar Singh part + Failed Dookudu part = Average Aagadu
Encounter specialist Shankar [Mahesh Babu] is transferred to a small village named Bhukkapatnam. This village is ruled by a goon, Damodar shortly called Damu [Sonu Sood] who runs many illegal businesses. Initially Shankar doesn't involve in Damodar business but as the things change gradually. Shankar starts fighting back against Damodar who threatens the poor people
Andhra & Telangana Wishesh
It follows typical Srrenu Vaitla style.Entire second hald reminds us of Dookudu.Once twists are revealed, movie becomes predictable.
Regular Sreenu Vaitla style of script and narration style are one of the minus for the movie, though it is well carried out by Mahesh Babu and his co-stars. Especially, Sonu Sood's character could have been elevated, so as few other roles could have given enough space.
Overall the movie thanks to Mahesh Babu and his spirited performance and the numerous comic gags, doesn’t matter if they are funny or not, that keep coming in quick succession make for a one time watch if one is so adamant on watching the film. Aagadu is not a really bad movie but the expectations on it are so huge coming from Dookudu combination, make it look poor.
Inspector Shankar (Mahesh Babu) transferred to Bukka Patnam to clip the wings of Damodar (Sonu Sood) and his brother Durga who are committing ruthless crime in the town to construct their dream project of Power plant against the wishes of local people. Now, Shankar mission is to stop the power plant construction and take the revenge of his brother's death
With a strong first half and weak second half, Aagadu has fallen in a mid trap. While Fans love to watch Mahesh Babus superb histrionics, common audience are left half satisfied. Overall, Aagadu is not a film of Super Star Mahesh’s caliber. However, commercially 'Aagadu' is going to create new records for sure due to heavy number of screens allocated and Mahesh Mania running peak in the public.
