A grouchy young man seems to be living a sort of groundhog day when everyone around him is happy celebrating his wedding to his childhood sweetheart. We know he has to re-live the day that changed his fate but we don't know why. And despite Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra's 'hotness' which drew the audiences in, the story leaves you cold.
Baar Baar Dekho has the right ideas. It even gets the tricky part right - the futuristic design of the story telling. But it doesn't show any innovation in its writing. This is an age old love story where being in love is more important than everything in life. You can't sell a 100-year-old idea with futuristic frills. That just doesn't add up.
There are timeless love stories and then stories involving time travel, BBD belongs to the latter
It is the ultimate what-if saga, narrated with a tender care and subdued splendour
I’m going with one-and-a-half out of five. Baar Baar Dekho? No thanks, ek baar kaafi tha!
Does this seem merely an exercise in makeup artistry then? In that sense, the old Sidharth looks a lot like the current Shah Rukh Khan, if you ask me. And Katrina is the mannequin all the way. Be that as it may, I suspect both of them, few years down the line, looking back at this movie, might feel rather embarrassed nonetheless. Uh-oh.
Nothing in Baar Baar Dekho adds up

This storytelling device is a cat's cradle of confusion
The actors have given their heart and soul to the main parts. And some of the supporting cast - not all, I am afraid - is also exceptional.
If you could go back in time to set this film right, make something else instead

And yes the looks and poses of Katrina in two piece happen to be the most interesting thing to catch giving her fans enough opportunities to enjoy her hot presence in the movie.
