Charulatha - Movie Reviews

If Vennela 1 1/2 was more loud and lewd than anything of the nature of 'vennela' and Avunu was more lecherous than scary, Charulatha is more emotional than horrific.  The film begins ordinarily, moves sluggishly, but becomes emotional in the second half.  The lack of sentimentality and the lacklustre proceedings test your patience in the first half but later the film really comes into its own, the real twist comes somewhere in the middle of the better half.  The way the film becomes edgeof-seat makes for what we missed in the first half.  A must-watch second half and, of course, the brilliant Priyamani both become the saving graces.

Dwarakish Chitra 'Charulatha' goes up in top gear once again. The film reminds a little of 'Aptha Mithra' of the same banner made from 'Mani Chitrathal' but the acting prowess in Priyamani certainly makes 'Priya' for audience to go and watch this film. 'Vishnuvardhana' was the last film of Dwarakish Chitra starring Kichcha Sudeep, Bhavana and Priyamani by this 'Charulatha' director P Kumar a super hit one in the box office.

The story revolves around two girls in the same body and their emotions when they fall for the same man. The conjoined twins Charu and Latha enjoy a harmony in views and tastes till Ravi (Skanda) enters their life. Probably because of the harmony, they end up in loving the same guy. However as fate would have it the two despise each other as Ravi falls for Charu. Then the turmoil begins with the mother Saranya Ponvannan intervening. She finally finds the solution to the issue that the twins must be separated. But again it is destined that only one will survive after the surgery. But who is the person who is to die and how she reacts to the situation is what the film narrates. The surprise is worth watching

We have grown up seeing movies where the lead actors do a double or triple act. But for the first time, here comes a story on conjoined twins.

Better to watch the original Thai movie (even without subtitles)
