Oka Manasu - All Reviews

Oka Manasu is undoubtedly a great debut for Niharika and Shaurya nailed it. With whole lot of boredom in first half and a heavy duty climax, this film has every chance to win the critics applause. Definitely, Oka Manasu has a heart and soul in concept.
This movie is a pure love story that concentrates on feelings and the extent to which lovers can go to when in love. A great attempt by the director. As a final word the movie is all about Love, love and indefinite love!
Outdated Narration and Completely dragged second half!
Love stories needs to be pleasant and make us root for the lead characters. But the lead pair in this film get on our nerves that we don't even feel the pain during their biggest miseries. There are sub plots and other characters that are not used at all. There is a lot of scope for drama, but Oka Manasu refuses to make use of it. It is not fair to compare this to a television serial. Even they are trying to be funny these days. On a whole, Oka Manasu is like an ultimate test for one's patience.
Movie begins with what Sandhya feels about her past love with Surya and her mother trying to inject some other person into her and make her marry. Simultaneously, Surya gets released from jail for some crime he committed in the past. He searches for Sandhya and meets her. The scenes where Pragathi, who acted as mother of Niharika convincing her to marry is tedious and feels repetitive.
If you'€™re watching one such story and are thoroughly bored, something surely is amiss
The director has told the movie in his own style with touch of poetry. But the pace is excruciatingly slow. Slower than a snail. Tests the patience till the end. Also his ideas are completely archaic as they belong to a by-gone era as the love-track seems too superficial.
This film has got its heart in the right place, if only it was able to beat well
Pranita Jonnalagedda, The Times of India
Oka Manasu is a once-in-a-lifetime movie for those who seek love stories being conveyed in poetic and classic style
Ajay Mudunuri, BookMyShow
Oka Manasu is a film that's done with a lot of conviction and passion. Plus points of the film are lead pair, music and cinematography. The snail-paced narration is a big minus. The film also lacks the contemporariness in terms of orientation. This film will appeal to the people who connect with this kind of storyline and narrative. On a whole, Oka Manasu is a poetic film with very slow narration and limited appeal!
The story was penned by the director Rama Raju himself. Though the first half was dragged so much, the story is definitely connective to the audience. The Cinematography was too good. The locations, visuals were appealing. Music by Sunil Kashyap was unveiled earlier, and the impact
Oka Mansu is a simple love story with some stellar performances from the lead pair. Niharika makes a striking debut and is surely here to stay. But the slow pace of the film, lack of proper drama and excessive length can get to you at times. One needs to instantly connect to such stories or else you can get lost easily.
Ramaraju who impressed with his first film, came up with a good story-line – a different love story. However the major dampener is the slow narration of the film. Further the conversations between the lead pair sounds repetitive and ineffective. The first half of the film tests the patience of the audience with its snail pace. Things get slightly better in the second half as Surya gets to decides between his father and Sandhya.
