Striker - Movie Reviews

Eventually then, Striker just isn’t compelling enough for a trip to the theater. But there are many good things here. So I recommend that you wait for the DVD.

Bollywood Hungama
There was a time when everyone was making movies about Mumbai’s underworld.
A serious film, which may not appeal to many!
Those looking for pure entertainment and a film that requires no brain power probably are better off missing out on this one as it is one for the stronger hearted. At the end of the day Striker should impress those who watch the film with the right frame

'Striker' is a movie that keeps jumping the gate and finally unravels all over the floor. A murky mélange of borrowings from far superior Bollywood drama thrillers based on the life's in Mumbai interiors. The best way to describe the style of Chandan Arora's 'Striker' is like this: director Mahesh Bhatt does Vidhu Vinod Chopra by the way of Govind Nihalani, the result is while not entirely devoid of entertainment value, doesn't work as a whole. The movie tries to establish a simile between a carrom champ who strikes the board as per convenience but in real life is a real looser, this drama thriller done with a slight dark tone raises the bar when it comes to setting, detailing like the Mumbai of the late 80's and early nineties, the insides of the smoky gambling joints filled with booze and attitude with poker machines and others installed in those amusement video game shops makes us feel we are almost there. Chandan tries to issue this in favor of mainstream thrills and is top lined by a performance by all in the lead where Siddharth excellently leads but the story and the screenplay are unfortunately not up to the job which makes this first solo entry of south Indian hottie Siddharth a tedious watch though its performed with outmost sincerity by the actor.

Striker, directed by Chandan Arora, falters because the story doesn''t arrest your attention in entirety and also, it seems like a never-ending ride, even though the running time is approx. 2 hours. Frankly, the story overstays its welcome.Cinema is all a
